Enterprise Perks Management Startup ChoicePass Acquired By Salesforce, Will Shut Down June 30

Corporate perk management platform ChoicePass has been acquired by Salesforce, according to a blog post on the company’s website. As a result of the acquisition, the team will be joining the Salesforce organization, but its website and operations will be shut down on June 30, 2012.ChoicePass was founded about a year ago, with the goal of “making HR sexy.” The startup had a Perks product that was designed to make it easier for employees to track and take advantage of corporate rewards and incentive programs. Hot on the heels of hitting 1 million daily users, gay meetup app Grindr has unveiled a more refined application that will be released this summer across iOS, Android, and BlackBerry platforms.
Grindr’s mobile apps have attracted more than 4 million people to date across iOS, Android, and BlackBerry, and it is used in 192 countries. CEO and founder Joel Simkhai told us it has the “largest gay audience for a sole gay property” of any single product, a pretty impressive feat for a bootstrapped startup. The tech community has responded positively too, and the app recently beat out Foursquare, Airbnb, and Uber for Best Location Application Crunchie Award.

Hangouts become centerpiece of Google’s developer outreach

Updated. Google launched a new section of its developer site called Google Developers Live Tuesday that aims to be a central destination for third-party developers in need of help with their projects. At the center of these efforts are Google+ Hangouts, the company?s group video chat platform. Blogger turned Google+ Product Marketing Manager Louis Gray announced the site with a post on Google+, which read in part:
?Google I/O kicks off next week in San Francisco, putting Google Developers face to face with Google employees and other product experts for three full days. We’d like to bring that face to face experience to our developers year round.?

SAP Looking to Create 'distinguished Engineers' for Its HANA Database

SAP is creating a new program that seeks to anoint consultants as "distinguished engineers" working with its HANA in-memory database platform, the company announced Monday.
About 1,800 consultants have already received HANA training since its general release one year ago. But the new program will provide a deeper level of engagement with SAP, according to an official blog post.
"SAP will support this organization by providing HANA briefings, development and roadmap updates, access to resources, and joint coordination of activities at conferences and other virtual and in-person technical events," the blog states.
